What to expect during your appointment?

Dr Vatharajh offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for gynaecological conditions in children. During the appointment, your child’s weight, height and blood pressure will be measured to ensure that their general health is good. The results will be used as a comparison in future exams. She may also perform the following tests:

External examination:

Your child’s vulva will be examined to ensure that there are no sores, swelling, or other problems with their external genitalia.

Ultrasound examination:

The gynaecologist will conduct an ultrasound exam to ensure that there are no internal problems, and the size and position of the ovaries and uterus are normal.

Breast exam:

Breast cancers are rare in teenagers, but a breast exam is essential to ensure that your child is developing well and detect any lumps, cysts, or breast problems.

STD testing:

This test is conducted to check for STDs such as gonorrhoea and chlamydia. The gynaecologist will use pap smear samples, blood or urine samples to check for sexually transmitted diseases.
